2021 Client Showcase: 11 Therapist Websites Using Squarespace
2021 was full of growth and change here at Hold Space Creative. Between releasing two new Squarespace templates (Ignite and Sage), a new 5-day design service, Semi-Custom logos, hosting workshops, expanding my customer service availability, and working with clients on website design projects, it’s been a busy year to say the least!
In this post, I want to showcase some of the therapist websites I had the honor of designing this year. Each of these websites was designed and built on Squarespace. Most were designed with my 5-day design service, Template Reframe, in which I tailor one of my Squarespace templates for you.
This list doesn’t encompass all of the Squarespace websites that I’ve designed this year, however, I’m equally grateful to all of my clients, whether their website is listed here or not.
De la Tierra Wellness Collective: Sex Therapy in Anaheim, California
TEMPLATE REFRAME | Andrea Template
Nancy Ortiz, LCSW is a Sex Therapist and Psychotherapist based in Orange County, California. Her practice provides cultural-centered therapy services with a focus on LGBTQIAP2+ People of Color. She provides one-on-one therapy, as well as group therapy in her Anaheim office or virtually.
Nancy identifies as a Queer Femme Xicanx Bilingual Bicultural First Generation child of proud Mexican parents, and her practice name, “De la Tierra” or “of the earth” is a derivation from Fanon’s Wretched of the Earth and her ancestral ties to Mexico’s rich lands of Guerrero.
She had purchased my Andrea template and wanted to tweak the design to make it her own but needed some help seeing her vision through. As I customized her template, I wanted to capture her personality and honor her ancestral heritage and cultural identities, so I used rich, burnt sienna as a main theme throughout the website. Paired with modern fonts and textural imagery, De la Tierra Wellness Collective now has an online space that represents the powerful work that Nancy does every day!
Authentic Self Consulting & Psychotherapy: Affirmative Depth Psychotherapy for LGBTQ+ Folx in Michigan
CUSTOM DESIGN
Cate Desjardins, LMSW provides LGBTQ+ competent therapy for folx anywhere in Michigan via teletherapy. They also provide LGBTQ+ Affirming Gender Diversity & Inclusion consultation to businesses throughout Southeast Michigan and beyond.
Cate and I technically started their custom design project in 2020, but we wrapped up in early 2021, and Cate has been doing amazing things ever since! They’ve been working on a Ph.D. dissertation alongside their thriving practice and expanding the Authentic Self team.
Since Cate provides depth psychotherapy, I wanted to help them create a beautiful online space that immediately communicated that depth without being cliché. Instead of the typical light/bright/airy therapy website, we went dark and moody with their Squarespace website, and it continues to be one of my favorite designs of all time! Botanical line drawings, friendly fonts, and straight lines provide grounding so that visitors don’t get lost in the moodiness, and custom iconography adds friendly familiarity throughout the site.
Sarah Ewald Embodied Psychotherapy: Therapy for Teen Girls, Millennials, and Mothers

Sarah Ewald is a Licensed Social Worker and Reiki Practitioner based in Waterloo, Ontario who is passionate about helping women and girls feel comfortable and embodied in themselves. She provides one-on-one therapy and workshops, and will soon be offering Reiki sessions.
Sarah was one of my first Template Reframe clients and I will forever be grateful for the trust she placed in me to create an aligned online space for her practice! I customized the Bridge template for Sarah, toning down the colors to a more subdued, earthy color palette, and incorporating delicate details to match the subtlety of Sarah’s work.
Courtney Witt Counseling: Emotion-Focused Therapy in Missouri, Kansas, and Virginia
CUSTOM DESIGN
Courtney Witt, MS, LCMFT, LMFT is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist based in Kansas City, Missouri. She provides Individual Therapy and Couples Counseling both in her Kansas City office and throughout the states of Missouri, Kansas, and Virginia via teletherapy.
Courtney and I worked together to create a completely custom brand and Squarespace website for her practice. To capture Courtney’s energetic, focused personality, I used collage-style layering, script fonts, and straight lines throughout the site design. Bold solid colors, combined with textural background images create depth and nuance throughout her website to mirror the therapeutic process.

Child & Family Therapy Collective: Behavior-Based Therapy for Children, Teens, & Families in Nashville, Tennessee

Eleanor Ezell is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker offering virtual therapy services for children, teens, and families in Mississippi and Tennessee, and in-person sessions in Nashville. Eleanor specializes in Parent Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), and as a former PCIT trainee myself, I was honored to create a website to showcase Eleanor’s approach to therapy!
Eleanor reached out to me as she was just starting her private practice journey, and wanted to jumpstart her growth with a professional, unique website to help her stand out from the crowd. I adapted the Bridge template to more accurately represent Eleanor’s practice; swapping out the warm, earth tone color palette for a cooler, pastel palette and tweaking the overall design to match her bold, “Visionary” personality.
Centric Counseling: Counseling for Life Transitions and Trauma Recovery in Texas

Patricia Aburime is a Licensed Professional Counselor based in Katy, Texas, and she provides in-person and virtual counseling for adults experiencing big life transitions, identity formation, or folks processing or recovering from traumatic experiences.
Patricia reached out to me as she was just starting her private practice journey, and wanted to start strong with a professional website and branding but was struggling to find time and energy to build a website.
After learning more about Patricia and her private practice, I customized the Bridge template to reflect her work and style of holding space. Patricia got The Sage on my personality quiz, and true to form, the way she holds space is open, trusting, and wise, so for her color palette, I chose mostly light creams and beiges. To prevent her site from becoming too “airy” and ungrounded, I added crisp, thin lines to convey the safety and structure she provides her clients.
Mind Money Balance: Financial Therapy and Coaching

Lindsay Bryan-Podvin is a financial therapist, coach, and social worker based in Michigan, working with clients worldwide to help get their minds and money in balance. Lindsay offers one-on-one therapy and coaching, groups, courses, and hosts her own podcast called The Mind Money Balance Podcast. She also wrote a book called The Financial Anxiety Solution.
She’s also a real-life friend of mine, so I was particularly honored when she booked a Template Reframe with me! Lindsay had purchased my Andrea template and had been using it for about a year when she decided it was time to refine her website design a bit.
During Lindsay’s Template Reframe, I wanted to capture her personality (a combination of Guide and Sage from my personality quiz), so I used soft gradients with bold colors. I chose her fonts very carefully and created custom gradients to replace the botanical textures of the Andrea template.

Kelli Knabe, LCSW: Individual, Couple, and Family Therapy in Brooklyn, New York

Kelli Knabe is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker based in Brooklyn, NY, and she provides teletherapy for teens, adults, couples, and families. She also provides one-on-one or group consulting and supervision services.
Kelli had purchased my Canvas & Brush template previously, and wanted to customize it further, but was struggling to find the time. She hired me for a Template Reframe to bring her vision to life quickly and efficiently.
For Kelli’s Template Reframe, I adapted the existing watercolor elements from Canvas & Brush into more structured shapes since part of her therapeutic style is about providing information and psychoeducation. This structure and safety is mirrored in the crisp edges of these shapes, while the more fluid aspects of her work are present in the painted texture within the shapes.
As a fun bonus, Kelli purchased print files of these painted backgrounds to create wall art for her office! Check out her About page to see them!
Chinaberry Acupuncture: Acupuncture Services in Ann Arbor, Michigan

Melea Alexander, LAc is a Licensed Acupuncturist based in Ann Arbor, Michigan who helps people find relief from chronic pain. When we met, Melea had a very basic and minimal website, and knew she needed an upgrade, but didn’t have the bandwidth to build a website herself.
For Melea’s Template Reframe, I adapted the Bridge template to match her Sage personality and capture the essence of her acupuncture services using design. I used simple, straight lines to mimic acupuncture needles, and alternated between left and right-aligned text to convey balance.

The Center for Modern Relationships: Relationship and Sex Therapy in Chicago, Illinois
CUSTOM DESIGN
The Center for Modern Relationships is a group practice in Chicago, founded by Michelle Herzog, LMFT, CST. She and her team of passionate, down-to-earth therapists provides relationship therapy, sex therapy, individual therapy, therapy for modern dating, and therapy groups, and take a modern approach to all of these services.
Michelle came to me with a well-functioning Squarespace website (it was sending the practice clients consistently), but the generic design didn’t reflect her practice’s personality at all. Over the course of 3-4 months, we designed a completely new, custom brand and website, complete with a logo suite, custom illustrations and graphics, and custom animations and functionality throughout the site.
Atlas Psychology Collective: Therapy for Children, Parents, and Young Adults in Michigan

Amy Nasamran, Ph.D. is a certified Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) therapist based in Lansing, Michigan. She works with kids and parents to support early childhood behaviors and mental health using positive parenting strategies. As a former PCIT trainee myself, I felt a special connection to Amy’s child and family work!
Amy also has a passion for helping young adults and early career professionals to reduce stress, anxiety, and burnout, and also provides parent coaching for parents who don’t live in the Lansing area.
Amy had purchased my Bridge template, and was able to add her content and pictures while she got her practice up and running. As things progressed, and Amy prepared to take her practice full-time, she wanted to refine her website a bit so that it more accurately represented her and her therapeutic style. So she booked a Template Reframe!
When I was customizing her template design, I wanted to create an online space that was active and energizing, but gentle and supportive at the same time to mirror Amy’s Guide/Nurturer personality. Bold but sweeping fonts, a neutral, refined color palette, and curved corners did the trick to create an environment that will help Amy call in perfectly aligned clients to her practice!
